A Smokies Cabin for Families Traveling Together: Why En-Suite Bathrooms Matter

October 27, 2026

Sharing a vacation cabin with another family, or with the grandparents, is one of the best ways to see the Smokies. You split the cost, the cousins get to play together, and everyone’s under one roof. But there’s one thing that can turn a great trip into a tense one: the morning line for the bathroom.

The morning bathroom line

Picture it. Eight or ten people, two bathrooms, and everyone wants to shower before Dollywood opens. One family is always waiting on another, the hot water runs out, and somebody’s toothbrush ends up on the wrong counter. It’s a small thing, but on a group trip the small things add up.

That’s why, when we set up Firefly Hollow Cabin, we made sure every bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom. Each family gets its own bedroom and its own full bath, and nobody has to knock.

How the cabin is laid out

Firefly Hollow Cabin sleeps 11 across three suites:

The King Suite bedroom

  • The King Suite (first floor): a king bed, a streaming TV and an en-suite bathroom. Good for the grandparents, or the couple who planned the whole trip.

The Double-Queen Suite with two queen beds

  • The Double-Queen Suite (first floor): two queen beds, a streaming TV and an en-suite bathroom. Room for a second family.

The Queen & Bunk Suite with a queen bed and a twin-over-double bunk

  • The Queen & Bunk Suite (lower level): a queen bed and a twin-over-double bunk with its own en-suite bathroom. The kids’ room, so even morning routines for the little ones don’t collide with the grown-ups’.

Space to spread out, and to come together

En-suite bathrooms are half of it. The other half is having places to be together, and places to get away:

  • A game room downstairs with a 4-player arcade, ping-pong, foosball and an Infinity game table, where the kids can be loud without waking anyone.
  • Two gas fireplaces, one upstairs and one downstairs, so the adults can talk by one while the kids watch a movie by the other on the 4K TV.
  • A big dining table and full kitchen for family dinners, plus a grill outside.

  • A private hot tub on a screened deck, and rocking chairs on the back deck for morning coffee.
