Behind the Scenes: Craning a New Hot Tub onto Firefly Hollow Cabin

Guests often tell us the hot tub is their favorite spot at Firefly Hollow Cabin. What they don’t see is how it got there. In November 2022 we replaced the old tub, and getting a new one onto a screened deck on the back of a cabin on a wooded ridge took a crane, a crew, and a rebuilt deck.

Out with the old

The original tub had served a lot of guests, but it was time. Before anything new could go in, the old shell and its plumbing had to come out.

A crane over the roof

There’s no road to the back deck, so the new tub came in the only way it could: over the cabin. A crane truck set up out front and lifted it high over the roofline.

A stronger deck

A filled hot tub weighs thousands of pounds, so we rebuilt the deck under it with new framing and fresh boards before the tub was set in place.

The finished tub

By that evening, the new tub was filled and lit. It sits on its own screened deck right off the game room, with privacy walls and a view into the woods.

Come try it

The hot tub is just one part of the cabin. Firefly Hollow Cabin sleeps 11, every bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom, and there’s a game room downstairs with a 4-player arcade, ping-pong and foosball. See the cabin, or check your dates below.
